Create a 4x2 version of the agenda widget
The best would be if all widgets in all possible sizes would be adjusted (via the settings).
-
@Eagle: Please just turn "Settings", "Widgets", "Agenda widget", "Scrollable widgets" on, this should fix it. Then the widget should fill its space and look better.

First of all, thank you for this great piece of software (Google Calendar and Tasks in one well customisable app)!
However, I just stumbled across this old thread because I really would like to have a good 4x2 agenda widget (it's the same as "Liste" (list) in the German translation, I hope). The current widget is only a scaled 4x3 version of the widget (I can resize it on my Nexus with Android 4.1), which means the font size is really small and there are large borders on the left and the right (wasting space).

I absolutely agree with this. The predefined sizes of the widgets don't fit my needs, and they are not very good customizable. This issue has 23 votes only, but if you check out Android Market and www.android-hilfe.de (for instance), you find many users saying "CalenGoo is great, but not the widgets. Use other calendar widgets from the Market in addition". I don't like this idea, I would rather have good widgets with CalenGoo built-in.
For instance, the 2x2 list widget shows the date with a grey background, which doesn't look nice and takes too much space in contrast to showing the date in front of the appointment itself and not in a separate line. When you select to not use the calendar colors (which is necessary if you want to use 100% transparency on a dark background because you will not see the apointments then except if you set font color to white), you cannot select to show calendar color fields/icons in front of the appointments to see at a glance if they are personal or business. There ARE tiny little lines in front of the appointments with calendar colors, but these are not very helpful. The day widget is able to display three appointments for the next days, but only three, not 5 or 6 with a smaller font size. The big day "icon" on the left side of the widget with its dark background looks not very nice, but you cannot select to not show it. And so on...
So please, make the widgets more customizable. I hope this is the correct issue to post here, or should I open a spearate feedback item for this?
Besides this, thanks for your good support and the excellent program! -

I absolutely agree to this wish. The predefined sizes for the available widgets are very limited by now, as is the ability to customize them. This has 22 votes only by now, but I saw many more on Android market and in www.android-hilfe.de where users said CalenGoo is great, but the widgets are not and you should use another calendar widget available on the Market in combination with CalenGoo. I don't like this idea, I would rather like to have good customizable widgets directly in CalenGoo.

as I read the source in com.example.android.apis.appwidget you can save the and update configs for each created widget separately
In ExampleAppWidgetProvider.java it loops over all created widgets loading (and potentially updating) configs for each created widget...
in this case of course it is just a user defined string, but I can't see why it wouldn't work with other preferences as well...
I just compiled the ApiDemos from the sdk and ran in the emulator - when creating multiple widgets, they each keep the text given on creation... -
As far as I know the config is linked to a certain type of widget. E.g. if you add multiple "CalenGoo Day" widgets to your home screen they cannot display different things because they are all of the type "CalenGoo Day". However another "CalenGoo Week" widget can display something else even if used in parallel with "CalenGoo Day". So I will try to make a new "CalenGoo Configurable Agenda" widget that can be resized in the settings.

Thank you! :-)

I haven't seen it done on size, apart from some of the HTC widgets, but I know several examples of multiple instances of a widget having different settings, so my guess is the config is somehow linked to the specific instance of the widget rather than the "main" program...
Examples include eg. Astrid (todo-app where you select the to-do list to show) and mini info (where you can setup various styles and colors as well as what info to show)...OT: Nice and quick reply and a general good response to users - I don't regret paying although I was quite hesitant due to the short trial-time (I was also considering touch calender, which I've been trying out in the free edition for a couple of weeks)

@Esben Thank you for this hint! Ok, I think this would be possible but I think it wouldn't be possible to have two widgets of the same type with two different sizes. So at least it would limit it to having only one widget. Maybe I should create a "CalenGoo Configurable Agenda" widget that can be completely configured including the size. I will try that.

According to this it looks like the size is configurable...
http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/appwidgets/index.html#Configuring"If you would like the user to configure settings when he or she adds a new App Widget, you can create an App Widget configuration Activity. This Activity will be automatically launched by the App Widget host and allows the user to configure available settings for the App Widget at create-time, such as the App Widget color, size, update period or other functionality settings."

Would it be possible to make more widget sizes for each view but have a list that you can select which ones are available on the widget list? I have seen something like this in Calwidget. You simply check which ones you want to be available in your settings, then the widget list isn't a mile long but there is the potential for lots of customization.

Yes, that would be great, but unfortunately the size of a widget is not configurable, it is fixed. So one has to create one widget per size. It is not much work, but it makes the widget list look a little crowded.
