floating events
to implement "floating events" that is events appearing on the current day until it is cancelled.
I will mark this idea as completed now, because it has already been implemented a while ago, seems to work good and there were no further suggestions regarding this idea in the comments.

Suggest ability to create a floating event for a past event that will give a count for the current date & for future dates. Example: an event occurred, in the past, that you didn't plan as a floating event, & you would like it to count the number of days since that past date.
Can you create a new floating event like this to count from the past...
(142) Corona Virus Lockdown... & continue the count daily until completed? -

Thanks, I use this eveyday..

@fgvillegas: Can you move these events manually? Perhaps they don't have an ID so that it isn't possible to create recurrence exceptions, i.e. to move single events of the series. Please see the description here:
http://android.calengoo.com/pagedoc/pageedit/pagerecurring/pagerecurring.html#recurrenceexceptions
So if you sync via Android please ensure that the recurring event has been synced with Google so that it gets an ID. If you still have problems please contact me: android@calengoo.com -

This works great for me.

This feature works well when the task or appointment is non-repeating. Otherwise, it will not float and when you marked it as completed, a duplicate record will be created automatically. I hope this gets corrected soon. Thanks.

Version 1.0.68 has been released a few minutes ago. Now completable events and floating events can be activated separately and a checkbox to mark the event as completed can be turned on for the agenda view. You can find these options under "Settings", "Display and Use", "General".
Also a few bugs were fixed and when you are using directly synced calendars, CalenGoo will now first sync them at 12am before moving the floating events to the next day (to ensure that it uses the latest data). -
@Scott: Thank you for your suggestions! With the next update "completable events" and "floating events" can be activated separately. If only "floating events" is turned on and an event is not marked as "floating" the checkbox won't be displayed in the edit view.
Regarding the detail view I couldn't reproduce the problem. If I open an event, uncheck it and then return to the calendar view using the hardware back button, it isn't displayed crossed out any more. Please try it again with the next update.
As you suggested, uncompleted floating past events won't be faded out in the agenda view any more.
There will also be an additional option "Settings", "Display and Use", "General", "Checkbox in agenda view" to display a checkbox in the agenda view to mark these events as completed. -

Thank you. I love to see the floating events. "Nice-to-have" would be a priority and a due date. On my Palm I sometimes had five or more floating events at the same time. So a priority and a "Last call" would draw your attention. Please keep up your great work!

Thank you, great job! The floating event feature is ok for me. First I thought it would be nice if events could be checked without going to the edit view but it actually prevents that events are checked accidentally. So I do not suggest a change.

Aahh, now it works (I did not sync before).
Nevertheless update on reboot will be fine in the next update! -
The floating events are updated at 12am in the night and after each successful sync. You are right, they are not updated on reboot yet. I think I have fixed it for the next update now. Until then you should be able to trigger it manually by choosing "Sync" from CalenGoo's menu.

Great idea.
When are the floating events updated?
Do I have to keep calengoo running for this?
My device is switched off over night and today the floating events are still located yesterday. -

This is awesome! This app is really fantastic, and I'm stoked that you're continuing to improve it and add useful functionality like floating events! (It's true it's a little slow to respond at times, but SOOOO worth it for the full functionality - Google's own sacrifice of usefulness for smooth and quick response is a massive failure for a calendar app). I imagine some tweaking will be good for this brand new change and thanks to the other comments for the feedback to lead to that improvement.
Grateful fan and user of Calengoo. The only app I've ever paid for, and so very happy I did.
Thanks!! -

A couple of other observations: (1) Floating events assigned a time seem to respect my setting to gray-out past events, and turn gray after the time has passed. It seems that they should stay black until completed, since by definition these events are still pending. (2) On the Agenda screen, it would be handy to give floating events a checkbox, similar to Tasks, so they can be directly marked as "completed" without having to open a dialog box.

Thank you, Andre. This is great. A couple of comments: (1) When creating a new event, I see the new checkbox next to the Event description field. I'm able to check this off without clicking the new "Floating" checkbox and then save the event, which then appears crossed out (per my preference setting) in Calengoo. Perhaps the checkbox next to the Event description field should be disabled until/unless the "Floating" checkbox is checked. (2) When I tapped on the now-completed (crossed out) event, I can uncheck the "completed" checkbox from the screen that appears with the "Back," "Delete," and "Edit" buttons and then press the hard "Return" button, but it still appears crossed out in Calengoo. It would be clearer if either the "completed" checkbox doesn't appear on this screen, or if Calengoo actually returns the event to floating status when the box is checked.
These are just small refinements. While I have to wait until tomorrow to see if the Test floating even I created will carry over, you've done a wonderful job of implementing this feature. Many thanks!

It will be synced as a mark in the title or description of the event, e.g. "[F]" or "[Floating]" will be added to the title or the description. This won't be displayed in CalenGoo, but you would see it in Google Calendar.

Great idea. I would like to use this functionality.
But: How (if ever) would this be synced ? -

I'm a HUGE fan of this functionality.

Pimlico DateBk6 for Palm provides floating events and tasks. I used it for years and found it an extremly helpful feature. Would be great to have it also in CaleGoo.
