The event editor of the Google calendar app uses a briefcase icon for availibility (free or busy). As a status icon for free events, one could use a crossed-out briefcase symbol. Or a backpack, a t-shirt, a sunshade, a tennis racket, an open book …

aCalendar does this, and very successfully so. One gets familiar to it in no time and can move very quickly through the views (in particular given the vertical two-finger swipes which advance the month view by a year, the week view by a month, and the day view by a week).

Of course, this all presupposes a day view without internal vertical swipes. CalenGoo optionally provides for such a day view, with the day column being fit to the screen.

While CalenGoo provides a list week view (or 'agenda week view') as an alternative to the column week view, there are no such alternatives for the day view, which is column-only. Users who prefer a list view of the daily events currently have to revert to the agenda view as a substitute.

The agenda view, however, does not allow for horizontally scrolling from day to day. Horizontal scrolling of the day view is an atomic operation from the user's perspective, as it always advances exactly one day. Vertical scrolling, which does not snap to the next or previous day, is a considerable less comfortable operation if one wants to advance *exactly* one day. A list version of the day view therefore would be a very welcome addition to the set of views provided by the CalenGoo app.

This list version of the day view could be a configurable alternative to the column day view. It would inherit its look from the agenda view, but be confined to exactly one day (like the popups are). Scrolling, however, would be inherited from the column day view, viz. horizontal scrolling from day to day. IMHO, such a list version of the day view would fit nicely into the overall user experience of the CalenGoo app.

As a matter of fact, there *are* Android calendar apps which provide a list version of the day view as an alternative to the column view (c.f., for example, Business Calendar 1, Informant's 'X-day view', and the version of day view in Wave Calendar which accessed from the list version of the week view).

A much simpler, but still effective, possibility would be to optionally allow for horizontal scrolling in the agenda view which advances the view day by day.

I meant removing individual recurrence exceptions, i.e. restoring event occurrences which were deleted from a recurring event. The only workaround to this effect I can find in the documentation is undeleting events through your Java utility (http://android.calengoo.com/pagedoc/pageadvanced/pagemissingevents/pageundelete/pageundelete.html).
What I have in mind is something like a list of recurrence exceptions in the edit view of a recurring event; by removing an item from the list one would restore the corresponding event occurrence (like, for instance, in Evolution).

If the tabs are disabled in the settings, they can be still accessed by tapping on the app's title bar. Currently, they go away again only after tapping on "Day", while they remain visible after tapping on "Week", "Month", or "Agenda".
Should this inconsistency be resolved on the example of the day view, there would be no need to clutter the menu with entries for view selection.

In version 1.0.78 (which has been released a few minutes ago) a first, experimental version of a new time picker has been added as an option. You can turn it on under “Settings”, “Display and Use”, “General”, “Use improved time picker”. It offers three choices: “Plus/minus” (the standard time picker), “Numberpad” (a number pad) and “List” (there you just have to tap twice to choose a complete time). Because it is “experimental” it hasn’t been announced in the update description. Instead it is announced here to get some feedback if it is good this way or what should be changed. One thing that is missing are buttons +/-5 minutes which have been suggested here. But maybe the number pad or the list are better choices anyway, so that the +/- 5 minutes buttons are not necessary. Please try the new time picker and write a comment here if it is…

In "List" mode in 240 x 320 resolution, the "Ok" and "Cancel" buttons are outside the popup and cannot be reached.

On devices with a hardware keyboard it would be great if dates and times could also be input directly from the keyboard. Ideally, the first input box and its value would be preselected such that one could immediately start typing. In addition, values should be adjustable by arrow keys, track ball movements, and the like (Blackberry style). Ideally, the time picker would also provide a shortcut for incrementing the minute value to the next quarter of an hour (e.g., by pressing the enter key, as in Agenda One on Windows Mobile).
